"Absolutely fantastic - food is delicious, great portions & incredibly reasonable prices. The desserts are something else - only issue you’ll run into is picking which to have! Staff are lovely - nothing is too much trouble. Really lovely place to visit, always a friendly, relaxed & welcoming atmosphere. Can’t recommend highly enough - pop in for yourself - you won’t be disappointed!"

"I visited with my friend. The service was fantastic. The food was wonderful. Fresh ingredients and homemade. Nothing like a warm slice of quiche with salad and new baby potatoes. The two women running the tea room were so kind and considerate. We sat outside and discovered the small businesses in the back - worth a visit. If I'm visiting the area again I'll be back here for sure."

"Popped in for the first time today and was greeted with a huge smile from the young lady behind the counter. (I think her name is Izzy) I had a coffee and probably the nicest bacon sandwich ever! Great atmosphere, all the guests were chatting to each other across tables… looking forward to going back"

"Absolutely lovely. The staff were so friendly and kind, going out of their way to ensure my son had a lovely pot of tea and a little treat to go alongside, dairy free due to allergies. My son loved his teacake and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her scone. We will definitely be back in the future, would be nice to see if there are any other dairy free options available in the future."

"Popped in to this lovely tearoom whilst we were waiting for our dogs to be groomed. We were warmly welcomed and given a choice of tables. The cafe is cosy and very clean with a nice menu. We had a pot of tea for two, a tea cake, scone and squash. The food was delicious and presented very nicely . The chairs were nice and comfy and the people were very friendly. If you’re visiting then the castle is on the doorstep and there is free parking for English Heritage members visiting the castle. There is also limited parking directly in front of the tearoom. Thanks for a lovely visit, we will be back."

"Absolutely lovely homemade soup with fresh homemade bread - perfect for a wintery day. Great selection of food and cakes, at a reasonable pricing. I can't believe I haven't been before I will be definitely returning! I would highly recommend."

"Wonderful new owners. Friendly staff who can’t do enough for customers. Very reasonable prices. Try the cakes. Delicious! My go to cafe. Ploughman’s was lovely and generous portion. I would say the recent reviews are untrue, and I do believe they are written in spite from an ex disgruntled staff member"
